Dream Optimist
Based in Seattle WA, songwriter/composer David Marc Siegel leads Dream Optimist, a project that extends from indie synth pop/rock all the way into the occasional neoclassical instrumental. Believing in the power of constructed as well as found sound, David spent some time in the worlds of art punk, ad music, theater music, musical theater, short film scoring, and instrumental & even neoclassical songs before ending up here, in the world of Dream Optimist. Inspired in equal parts by bands like the Magnetic Fields, the Talking Heads, Elvis Costello & New Order as by composers such as Moondog, Kurt Weill, Danny Elfman and Aram Khatchaturian, Dream Optimist started releasing singles in 2022, eventually releasing an EP in mid-2023 entitled, “Seven Day Love Challenge." In late 2023, as a nod to his background in ad, film & theatrical music, Dream Optimist released a semi-classical rendering of the Friends TV theme song, "I'll Be There For You." In Nov 2024, Dream Optimist's latest single, "Fake Jewelry," came out - a refresh of a rambunctious rocker he would play in pop punk bands he used to lead. Dream Optimist has some new stuff coming out soon - and is also working on a musical theater project! So stay tuned.
