I wrote these songs primarily as self soothing while navigating the parameters of this new phase of my life and documenting my personal evolution as I emerged from a long, dark night of the soul. Most of these songs are full takes, best take out of 3 wins. I don't use melodyne or anything. No comps or multitracking. Just my honest performance. I wanted it to feel like you're sitting next to me on the couch while I play my songs, intimate... like a confessional. The album is riddled with errors, but it's authentically human. Authentically me. An auditory snapshot of that exact moment in my life... I had a migraine whilst recording the album, but I had already booked studio time and I flew across the country to record the album, so I pushed through.... you can hear the pain in my voice. This album was recorded in the Labyrinth of The Exchange Recording Complex in Milwaukee, WI. All songs written and arranged by C. Bays, engineered and mixed by Chris Short, (Chris also gets a producer credit because he worked very hard to help me and accommodate me with all my support needs..) mastered by Garret Haines of Treelady Studios. I originally painted the heart on the cover in watercolor paint. I cleaned it up in Procreate and put it on a different background for the cover art.
